Had a blast down in South Carolina this weekend for track camp. We did two 5 hour sessions, one on Saturday and the other on Sunday. It took me a while to get on the track but I ended up getting used to it as far as riding by myself. It was all good tell we started to ride as a group and went to slow on the turn and I clipped my pedal on the turn. The turn is a 42 1/2 degree angel and you have to go about 15mph to not slip down. Luckily I recovered by dropping down the turn but I was pretty shaky afterwords. I had around 3 other close calls. Some people were not as lucky as me. We were riding in a pace line when all of a sudden rite behind me Doug (our cycling director) clipped his pedal and went down. 3 other riders went down by running into Doug and one ran over Doug's elbow dislocating it. The girl that ran over Doug went over her handlebars falling face first down the turn smacking her head on the ground and skidded to a stop at the bottom. Although Doug's injury looked really bad she had the worst crash that day. She suffered a horrible concussion and Doesn't remember anything about yesterday and seems to have lost some memory of what has happened in the past few months. The last thing she remembers was being in a car accident. But she seems to be okay otherwise and was able to talk and laugh about it today. So after all that happened on Saturday I opted out of riding on Sunday and just watched.
The video I posted unfortunately turned out blurry but I just wanted to give you a taste of how fast some of the guys were this weekend. I had a lot of fun and learned a lot but I don't think track is my thing. I'm glad to be home safe and sound. Be sure to scroll down and look at "Joel's hole" ( The hole I made when I fell on the bridge a few weeks ago.)
