Bridge crash

Hole I created when I fell on the slippery wet bridge.
Possible new road bike!

So last week I was heading out on for a mountain bike ride just like any other day. It had rained a little bit earlier making everything a little wet and slippery which is usually no problem on a mountain bike. I had descended to lower campus and began crossing the bridge I always cross almost every time I go for a ride. And then I fell.... I had no time to think because my front wheel just slipped out in front of me and I hit the ground bouncing a few times before I skidded to a stop. I ended up not getting hurt that bad just a few scrapes and splinters and of course I hit my "bad" knee pretty hard. But I'm okay and nothing serious happened. As for my bike it wasn't so lucky. It got wedged in between the bridge walkway and was awfully hard to yank out. My back wheel is completely shot and front brake is bent beyond repair. The good news is that It was my training bike and not my race bike. But still fixing it will cost a good amount of money.
I came down with a cold after this last weekend of racing in Georgia. I seem to be almost fully recovered and ready to start some serious training. We are hitting the weight room almost every other day now and I'm starting up some core that I can do on my easy days. I'm hoping to use all of this to build my strength up for acceleration and just to become a better biker all around. I also might try and do pole vault this year so having strength and core for that will be very helpful.
Food In the cafeteria is getting kind of repetitive but I've been learning that its not that bad if you actually try hard enough to eat healthy with a variety of things instead of just going in getting pasta and a burger then leaving. At lunch I usually always start with a salad then try and practice some self control and make my self a sandwich with lots of meat instead of just going for some pizza. I think eating healthier is paying off and I'm feeling better on my rides and workouts.
